Groep E: Braga verrassend langs Portsmouth

Sporting Braga heeft in de UEFA Cup-groep van Heerenveen (E) met verrassend grote cijfers van Portsmouth gewonnen. Luis Aguiar, Renteria en Alan maakten de doelpunten voor de thuisclub. 

Braga, dat in de eigen competitie stroef draait, nam al vroeg afstand van Portsmouth. De Engelse bezoekers waren voorafgaand aan het duel favoriet, maar konden die status totaal niet waarmaken. Vlak na rust besliste Braga het duel, waarna in de slotfase met een derde treffer de ploeg van coach Harry Redknapp nog wat extra pijn werd gedaan.

De andere wedstrijd, SC Heerenveen-AC Milan, eindigde in een 1-3 overwinning voor de bezoekers uit Italië.
