Clarke hails top Drog
Chelsea assistant manager Steve Clarke saluted Didier Drogba after he enhanced his status as English football's in-form striker by firing the Blues into the Carling Cup semi-finals.
Clarke led the plaudits as the 28-year-old Ivory Coast hitman came off the bench to thump home his 17th goal of the season and edge his side past Newcastle 1-0 at St James' Park.
He said: "He is the striker in form at the moment. Everything he hits seems to go in the net. It is great for Didier himself because he is obviously at the top of his form, scoring a lot of goals and getting a lot of praise, but it is also great for the club and good for the team. We are very pleased with his contribution."
