At 35, Henrik Larsson is old enough to know goals will determine whether his short-term spell at Manchester United is deemed a success.
Larsson checked in at United's Carrington base on Monday for a week's training prior to his arrival on January 2 for a 13-game stint Sir Alex Ferguson hopes will propel the Red Devils to glory at home and abroad.
The former Sweden star accepts his contribution to the United cause will be measured by the tally which appears next to his name in the goals column. "Strikers get judged on goals," he said. "That is the way it has always been and that is the way it always will be. It is no problem for me. I am really looking forward to the challenge."
