David Forde has been offered a two-and-a-half-year deal at Coca-Cola Championship title hopefuls Cardiff City.
Forde has firmly established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the eircom League in a three-year stint at the Brandywell.
A previous spell across the water with West Ham United came to nothing, but the Galway native wants another chance to prove himself in the big league.
Forde, who turns 27 later this month, has yet to make a final decision on Cardiff's offer but is expected to agree a deal which will keep him at Ninian Park until the summer of 2009.
He said: "I've some unfinished business across the water. I'll think about it during the week before making a decision.
"I have ambition. I've set myself a target of getting into the Ireland squad and that's something I believe I can achieve.
"Right now I just want to enjoy the FAI Cup win, so it's a case of watch this space."
