Portsmouth are facing a fight to keep on-loan Portuguese midfielder Manuel Fernandes - and manager Harry Redknapp insists he wants the youngster to stay.
The 21-year-old joined from Benfica initially on loan to prove his recovery from a groin injury, after failing two medicals.
Portsmouth have until next month to decide whether to make the move permanent and meet Benfica's asking price which is believed to be around 7million. Such a fee would test new owner Alexandre Gaydamak's financial commitment, but Redknapp, who is set to keep Fernandes in the team for Saturday's home clash with Everton, admits: "I would love him to stay."
