Arsene Wenger is confident his Arsenal side will rise to the challenge at home to strugglers Charlton as the north Londoners seek to make up for their blip at Sheffield United.

The Gunners finished 2006 with a damp-squib 1-0 defeat against the battling Blades on Saturday evening - but Wenger does not expect them to slip up for a second time in four days against one of the top-flight's lesser lights.

"We play at home and want to respond after our disappointing result at Sheffield United. I feel the team will be up for the challenge and play a good game," Wenger said.
