Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Robin van Persie is starting to come of age this season.
The 23-year-old Dutchman netted the winner at Watford on Boxing Day to help the Gunners extend their unbeaten run in the Barclays Premiership to six matches and it was a third goal in two games for the young forward, who is again likely to be asked to lead the line at Sheffield United on Saturday in the absence of both Emmanuel Adebayor and captain Thierry Henry.
Van Persie cracked in a contender for goal of the season at Charlton during September, and Wenger said: "Robin is much more mature on the pitch now. He has developed into a team player and works hard for them. Robin now has a good mixture of going forward and dropping off."
