Lita assault complaint withdrawn

Reading striker Leroy Lita, who was arrested after he was accused of head-butting a man during a night out, was told on Monday he will not face prosecution.

The 21-year-old was questioned by police in Bristol on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after a 24-year-old local man claimed he had been attacked in the Haymarket area of the city. The England Under-21 striker, who signed for the Premiership new boys last summer from Bristol City for 1million, had been accused of leaving his alleged victim with a black eye.

But an Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said the Congo-born striker would face no further action after the complaint was withdrawn.
