Cristiano Ronaldo capped a fine performance with an equaliser to prevent Manchester United's first league clash with Reading from ending in defeat.

The home side had taken the lead early in the second half through Kevin Doyle's penalty.

But United hit back strongly with Ronaldo providing the perfect riposte to the home fans who constantly booed the Portugal winger for his role in England's World Cup exit.
