Irish international Andy Reid has completed a move to Charlton Athletic, ending the 24-year-old's dismal 18-month spell at Spurs.

Reid arrived at White Hart Lane amid much fanfare in January 2005, but was unable to make any lasting impression for Martin Jol's side.

He has been the subject of persistent transfer speculation this summer, with Sunderland manager Niall Quinn interested in luring him to Wearside, but Reid has opted to stay in the Premiership - and London - by signing for Charlton.

He has signed a four-year contract at the Valley in a move which could cost the Addicks up to £3m, depending on clauses.

Charlton chief Iain Dowie said: "Everyone is aware that the Premier League is about quality and ability on the ball, so we are delighted to clinch Andy's signing.
