Transfer-listed Cork City star George O'Callaghan will be forced to look abroad in order to restart his career after the eircom League's July transfer window slammed shut without any move for the 26-year-old from any of Cork's domestic rivals.
Drogheda United, Shelbourne and St Patrick's Athletic were all linked with the player at various stages over the past number of months.
But none of the trio were able to complete a move for the player - transfer-listed at his own request at the weekend - before the midnight closure of the domestic transfer window.
Contracted at Turners Cross until the end of 2007, O'Callaghan will now be forced to leave the eircom League, or swallow his pride and reach an accord with manager Damien Richardson which would allow him to continue at Cork.
O'Callaghan has been frozen out of the first-team picture for the past month, missing Cork's Champions League ties against Apollon Limassol and Red Star Belgrade.
