Blackburn manager Mark Hughes has backed under-fire West Ham counterpart Alan Pardew to turn the club's fortunes around.

The two teams meet at Upton Park on Sunday with the Hammers looking to end an eight-match losing streak which has piled the pressure on Pardew. However, Hughes is confident Pardew will survive by drawing on his experience of a similar situation prior to guiding the club out of the Coca-Cola Championship two seasons ago.

"You just have to be clear in your mind," Hughes told PA Sport. "The benefit Alan has got is that he has gone through this period before at West Ham. In his early years there was some criticism of the team and the manager as a consequence of that but he came through that. He will be stronger because of that and he will be able to deal with that I'm sure."
