Lille mull over appeal

Lille will consult legal experts before deciding on Monday whether to appeal against UEFA's decision to reject their protest about the validity of Manchester United's winning goal in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Les Dogues complained the referee should have blown his whistle before Ryan Giggs took the 83rd-minute free-kick that ultimately won the match for United, and their players threatened to walk off the pitch. However, UEFA not only rejected the complaint, but charged the French club's players with improper conduct.

A statement released on the club's website read: "We regret UEFA do not wish to analyse the matter. The feeling of injustice is shared by all of those who love football. This decision can be appealed within three days. We will review our options and our chances with our legal advisers and will make a decision on Monday."
