Reading manager Steve Coppell today admitted that if Reading did not gain promotion to the Premiership, he would have left.
Coppell, recently guided Reading to promotion to England's greatest league, the first time they have gained promotion to the top flight in their history.
"Realistically I think if we hadn't got promotion I would have been leaving the club. I think that would have been my mentality and probably the club's mentality but things have worked out alright," Coppell told Sky Sports News.
The manager's contract ends in the summer, however Coppell admits that he is not worried that no terms have been agreed yet.
"My contract finishes in June and we've got six games left in the season so I'll enjoy those six games. We haven't talked as yet to anybody but I'm comfortable and sure we'll get down to the nitty gritty soon."
