West Ham striker Teddy Sheringham today agreed a new deal to keep him at Upton Park for another year.

Sheringham, who is yet to turn fourty, impressed manager Alan Pardew which led to him receiving the new deal.

"I'm absolutely delighted that we have signed Teddy up for another year. It's important for our young players that we have good senior professionals at the club, and Teddy has always set the right example," said Pardew.

"More importantly, we have also secured his playing ability for another season. Teddy has shown this season that he is still a top Premiership striker and, given his superb fitness levels and dedication to the game, I have no doubt that he will be an important member of the team next year," added the coach.

Sheringham has netted 5 times this season, which leaves him 3rd in the clubs top scorer, behind Bobby Zamora and the clubs top scorer, Marlon Harewood. The Hammers are currently lying in 8th, and a win could see them up to 5th if other results go their way this weekend.
