Jefferies focused on European bid

Jim Jefferies insists he would swap being crowned the Bank of Scotland Premier League's manager of the year if he could take Kilmarnock into Europe next season instead.

The Killie boss is one of the hot favourites to pick up the gong when the prizes are handed out at the end of the season but right now he is only interested in what is happening on the pitch. If Rangers beat Hearts to second place in the SPL to join Celtic in the Champions League and Hearts win the Tennent's Scottish Cup, the final UEFA Cup spot will go to the team who finishes fourth.

Jefferies said: "It's nice to be linked with it but there are a number of people who are worthy of it. I don't go into work every morning worrying about being manager of the year. Put it this way, I would give it up if you could guarantee me fourth place and a place in Europe."
