Chelsea have dismissed suggestions that Andriy Shevchenko's arrival at Stamford Bridge will open the door for Didier Drogba to depart.
The Barclays Premiership champions, who also confirmed the pre-contract agreement signing of Portuguese goalkeeper Hilario, intend to deploy Shevchenko and Drogba in partnership next season.
Although they may not always start matches together, manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that Drogba has a major role to play as Chelsea chase a third successive domestic title and Champions League glory. "A lot of people were speaking about Andriy to come and Didier Drogba to go but that was never, never, never the idea," Mourinho told Chelsea TV.
