David Moyes aims to add a central defender to the record-breaking signing of Andrew Johnson as the Everton boss aims to recapture the qualities that drove the club to Champions League qualification a year ago.
Everton finished in the bottom half of the table last term after the previous campaign's remarkable fourth-place finish in the Barclays Premiership. The Toffees finished with their lowest goals tally for a season in their history, prompting Moyes to splash out a club record 8.6million to lure England international Johnson from Crystal Palace.
And Moyes said: "The chairman has opened up the purse and I do hope he keeps it open a little later. We will bring in one more big signing, we always try to make progress and Andy has been made aware of that."
