Bolton manager Sam Allardyce admits he still rues the day he lost out on Dado Prso to Rangers.

The Trotters boss had spent two months keeping tabs on the Croatian striker during his time at Monaco and was convinced he was set for a move to the Reebok Stadium. Instead, he was snatched from under the noses of the Barclays Premiership club by then Ibrox boss Alex McLeish.

"It took me about eight weeks every weekend going to see him at Monaco and he was looking to get out of there as he wanted a change of venue," he said. "We thought we had clinched it at that time."
