Republic of Ireland international consultant Sir Bobby Robson believes he will be able to return to Steve Staunton's managerial set-up as his recovery from brain surgery continues.
Robson missed the Euro 2008 opener against Germany three weeks ago after undergoing surgery to remove a grape-sized tumour on his brain.
He subsequently received a minor lapse after temporarily losing the power of movement in the left side of his body - a common side-effect of brain surgery.
The 73-year-old former England manager admits his health problems have been a source of frustration, but insists he can still do a job alongside Staunton in the Irish management team.
He said: "I haven't been able to give as much time as possible to the job and that is a source of frustration to me. I wouldn't continue as adviser long-term if I didn't think I'd be able to make a genuine contribution.
"It's too early to make that decision but I'm getting stronger every day and if I keep improving then I'll be able to do the job I was chosen for."
