Richard Dunne's first half goal saw Manchester City to a vital Premiership victory over Middlesbrough on Monday night.
Dunne had held up his hand after City's dismal 4-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic nine days previously, underlining the need for the team to bounce back against Boro.
And he led by example at Eastlands, rising to head Joey Barton's 23rd minute corner past Mark Schwarzer in the visitors' goal.
City held on through the second half to close out their first win in four games, and ease the mounting pressure on manager Stuart Pearce.
