Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic insists the club will do "everything possible" to ensure David Beckham signs a new contract with the Spanish giants.
Real president Ramon Calderon believes the former England captain will retire from football in two years' time but wants the 31-year-old to remain at the Bernabeu until he does quit the game. Calderon insists Mijatovic, in tandem with Real coach Fabio Capello, will decide whether Beckham should be kept on, and the Serbian seems optimistic that a deal can be done.
"Capello is counting on him. He's a great professional and he will contribute a lot more this season than in years past," Mijatovic told Marca. "Fabio will use all his players with one lone objective: winning the league. We will do everything possible to make sure Beckham stays on. We're counting on him. I have been in contact with his agent and I don't foresee any problems."
