Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder was on Tuesday attempting to put together a squad for Thursday night's UEFA Cup trip with 11 names on the casualty list.

Midfielders Kieron Dyer, who spent Sunday night in hospital after gashing his thigh during the 1-0 Barclays Premiership victory over Portsmouth, and Scott Parker have already been ruled out of the party which will head for Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday. And they could yet be joined by James Milner and Charles N'Zogbia as they undergo treatment for hip and shin injuries respectively.

Roeder said: "Scott Parker has had a scan on his back and it has shown he has a strained muscle. While it is difficult to say how long he will be out of action, he will not be with us in Frankfurt."
