Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has given striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy a huge boost ahead of The Red Devil’s Premiership campaign.

Queiroz today said that Nistelrooy was crucial to the team despite being left out of the Carling Cup final and the games that followed it.

The Netherlands stars future will most certainly be under strict observation by the press and by Nistelrooy himself.

"Ruud is a crucial player for our goals and ambitions, nobody can have any doubts about that. He is part of our family, of our team, and our needs. His contribution, starting one game or coming on during the game, is always crucial for us. Nobody can have doubts about that. Of course he is part of our plans," said Queiroz.

"He’s here in the short, medium and long term but you cannot be surprised if 50 teams in the world want Ruud. The only team that wants Ruud, that does need Ruud, is Manchester United and we have him. The team, the special team, that has Ruud," added the assistant.

"We just need to show our commitment and our appreciation to the player because he is a crucial player to us."
