West Ham United's veteran goalkeeper Shaka Hislop is looking forward to an exciting next few months, as his career draws to a close for both club and country. The 37-year-old is preparing for an FA Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough this weekend, with a summer World Cup finals date with Trindad & Tobago to follow, having been close to retiring a year ago as he languished in the reserves at Portsmouth.Hislop said: "I certainly wouldn't have believed it a year ago, when I was effectively third choice at Portsmouth and not enjoying it."It's amazing how things have turned out."It is a proud achievement at the twilight of my career and regardless of what happens over the next three months, this is a period of my career I will look back on with immense pride."Over the last six months things have come full circle for me."Being part of a Trinidad & Tobago team that has qualified for the World Cup is probably the pinnacle of my football career and the one thing I am most proud of."At this stage of my career, to be part of a West Ham team that has got this far in the FA Cup and with the prospect of running out against England at the World Cup in a few weeks, is a period I will look back on for a long time."
