Major boost for England
Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has declared himself fit for Saturdays game with Birmingham. This will be welcome news not only for Newcastle who push for a European spot but also England. Sven will be happy if Owen maintains his fitness and illustrates his goalscoring abilty before this years World Cup. As a fit Michael Owen could make all the difference to England in June. Having been named in the matchday squad against West Bromwich Albion last weekend, Owen believes he is now ready to step up his comeback.
The striker claims he has not rushed his return after almost five months out and the possibility of match action will delight Sven Goran Eriksson in his preparations for the World Cup where Owen will take a prominent role.
