Former England international striker Andy Cole has turned down the opportunity to be part of the Ghana backroom team at this summer's World Cup finals in Germany.
Cole was lined up to coach the Black Stars strikers, which include Borussia Dortmund frontman Matthew Amoah.
However, he has opted to take the opportunity to undergo treatment in a bid to overcome a knee ligament injury which kept him out of action for the last three months of the Premiership season.
The former Manchester United ace said: "They approached someone I know about the possibility of me coaching their strikers at the World Cup, but as I've got the injury I don't think I'll be able to take up the role.
"You need to be active to carry out that type of role, but it would have been something I would have considered doing."
