Joe Murphy the Irish international goal keeper has signed for Scunthorpe United. This follows a disapointing spell with the North East club.Murphy joined the Black Cats from West Bromwich Albion last summer but was never able to force his way past Kelvin Davis and Ben Alnwick into the first-team squad at the Stadium of Light.
Sent on a three-month loan to Walsall in October, he played 16 games for the Saddlers, keeping five clean sheets and winning plenty of admirers.
Murphy, 24, is a proven League One performer from his time at both Walsall last season and Tranmere Rovers earlier in the season, and Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws is delighted to have signed the Dubliner on a two-year deal.
