Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder has denied Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is set to move to St James' Park.
The Magpies are in desperate need of additions to their strike force following the retirement of Alan Shearer and the absence until at least the turn of the year of Michael Owen who was injured on England duty.
Hasselbaink is out of contract at north-east neighbours Middlesbrough and reports claimed the former Holland international would make the short journey to Tyneside.
Roeder, however, insisted there was no foundation in the reports while insisting the Magpies had identified other potential signings.
