Raul was disappointed not to cap his 100th appearance for Spain with victory over Iceland in their friendly clash in Reykjavik.

The Real Madrid forward became only the second Spaniard - after legendary goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta - to reach the milestone, having made his debut for his country in October 1996. The 29-year-old admitted he was proud to make it to a century of caps but was not happy at seeing his team only manage a goalless draw against the Icelandics on Tuesday.

"A hundred games in the shirt of Spain is something to be very proud and happy about," he said in Spanish daily AS. "I am happy to have reached that figure. It is a very important achievement. To have played for the national team so many times shows I have been working hard. It is a shame the match did not turn out as we`d hoped. It was tough for us. We gave it everything."
