Football Association of Ireland chief executive John Delaney will temporarily step down from UEFA's control and disciplinary body in light of Steve Staunton facing a touchline ban.
Delaney was recently appointed to the post, but due to a conflict of interests he can play no part in the decision-making process when it comes to reviewing Staunton's case.
In his first competitive match in charge on Saturday night, the Ireland manager was banished to the stands during a Euro 2008 qualifying defeat to Germany in Stuttgart.
