Keane made six signings on transfer deadline day, but the former Manchester United and Celtic midfielder is still not happy with his squad and has looked to two former United team mates to help his cause at the Stadium of Light.

Raimond van der Gouw and Dion Dublin have both been approached by Keane with a view to joining the squad as both player and coaching capacity. However, the 35-year-old admits nothing has been decided yet.

"I spoke to Raimond in the summer and I've spoken to Dion, but neither of them will be coming in the short term," Keane told Sunderland Today.

"Things might change though because I'm speaking to a lot of people. I've been in touch with loads of people since taking over the job.

"It's my job here to look at every aspect of the team and the coaching and try improving it in any way I possibly can. I wouldn't be doing my job right if I wasn't looking at that."

The Dutch goalkeeper is currently playing in his home country, while Dublin is a free agent after his contract expired with Celtic during the summer.
