Shelbourne's appeal into the decision of the eircom League's Protest Committee to deduct three points from Bohemians for fielding an ineligible player against the Reds in August has been adjourned for further deliberations.
No new date has yet been fixed for the FAI Appeals Board hearing, in which Shels are hopeful that they will instead be awarded the three points arising from the fixture against Bohs on August 18th.
Defender Jason McGuinness played for Bohs in the game when he should have been suspended.
The eircom League's Board of Control had implemented the Protest Committee's recommendation that Bohs be deducted three points.
But Shels disagree with the verdict, citing precedents where victory was awarded to the opposing team rather than the imposition of a points deduction against the side which committed the offence.
The outcome of the Appeals Board decision is likely to have a major bearing on the destiny of this season's league championship.
