England manager Steve McClaren has taken responsibility for his side's 2-0 defeat against Croatia in Zagreb - his first reverse in charge of the national side.
McClaren tried a new 3-5-2 formation in Croatia but his experiment backfired as the visitors went behind to a header from Brazil-born Eduardo da Silva on the hour. Then Gary Neville scored a bizarre own goal when his back-pass hit a divot and was missed by goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
McClaren said: "We lost the game so obviously the tactics didn't work. The end result is that we came here to win a football match. We haven't done. It was my decision to change and we lost the game, so it's my responsibility."
