Less than 24 hours after an emotional farewell to Derry City faithful at the Brandywell, Stephen Kenny saw his new Dunfermline Athletic side come from behind to take victory over Dundee United in a relegation six-point at East End Park.

The Pars, trailing to Barry Robson's goal seven minutes after the break, struck twice inside the final 14 minutes, through Greg Shields and Gary Mason, to get Kenny's Scottish career off to a winning start.

It was a first win in seven games for Dunfermline, and helped them level on points with Motherwell at the foot of the Scottish Premier League table, with third-from-bottom Dundee United now just two points to the good.

The Dubliner, who watched the game from the stands, said: "United played well for 60 minutes and they put us under pressure and deserved to take the lead.

"But once we equalised and grew in confidence we looked a different team, very much in the ascendancy and I'm delighted to get my Dunfermline career off to a winning start."
