Manchester United defender Wes Brown has revealed that the defensive side of the team has improved, thanks to the capture of Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra.

The gap between United and Chelsea is now just seven points, and Brown is happy with the competition for places.

"Nemanja has been excellent, Mikael Silvestre has been playing really well at left back and Gabriel Heinze is back in training and looking great, so everyone is fighting for positions."

Brown also stated that if you get picked, you have to perform, otherwise its back to where you started.

"You have to show something on the pitch, otherwise you will be dropped."
