Zidane slams French boo-boys
France captain Zinedine Zidane has hit out at the Stade de France crowd for booing Fabien Barthez and Vikash Dhorasoo during Les Bleus 1-0 win over Mexico.
The home fans jeered Marseille custodian Barthez throughout Saturday's encounter while Dhorasoo was given the same treatment when he came on as a 52nd minute replacement for Zidane. Playmaker Zidane, who has often had a frosty relationship with the Stade de France public, had been marking his 100th cap and final appearance at the arena when he made way for Dhorasoo.
"This is scandalous to boo any player from the team," Zidane told radio programme RTL Foot. "I was maybe singled out but when Dhorasoo or Barthez are booed, it's just as if I was booed too. I was simply disappointed. We need people to support the team. In 1998, just before we won the World Cup, it was exactly the same, we were badly treated."
