Sunderland hold press conference

Sunderland have called a press conference at the Stadium of Light for 12.30pm today at which they intend to make a "major announcement".
It is understood the announcement will concern the takeover bid by Niall Quinn's consortium.
The Irishman flew into the north-east last night after he and his backers agreed a £10m (?14.4m) price with former chairman and major shareholder Bob Murray last week.
