Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce has confirmed that England goalkeeper David James has asked to leave the club.
Cash-rich Portsmouth have already lodged one bid for the 36-year-old although as yet the Fratton Park outfit have yet to meet City's valuation.
However, James, whose fiance lives in the south of England, has told Pearce he would like to go. "David James has expressed a wish to leave," said Pearce.
