Liverpool striker Peter Crouch is almost certain of a place on the plane to Germany admitted England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Crouch came off the bench to level the scores up against Uruguay on Wednesday before Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole scored an injury time winner.

"Crouch is quite different. We could have used him even more. He's good, I like him," said the England manager.

"I will not promise him a World Cup ticket because that's not fair but it would be difficult to leave him out," added Eriksson.

The Liverpool striker was roared onto the pitch at Anfield, his club's ground before heading home to equalise for England. "The Liverpool fans have been great since I came to the club. It is great to score my first goal for England and even more special to do it at Anfield," Crouch said.

"You always want to start games but I am realistic. Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney are top-class players and they're going to start ahead of me," Added the striker.

Darren Bent also started against Uruguay, but failed to hit the target. Jermain Defoe replaced him later in the game. "We know what Defoe can and can't do but I wanted to see Darren Bent on the pitch with the other England players," England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson said.
