Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Sol Campbell is ready to return back to first team football.
The England defender has not played a game at Highbury since storming out of the nightmare against West Ham on February 1st.
To make matters worse, Campbell then attracted an ankle injury, which kept him on the sidelines for more agonising weeks.
However Arsene Wenger now believes he is mentally fit again, but will not feature in the game against Portsmouth on Saturday.
"Campbell is not injured but he is not in the squad. For me he is 90% there physically but mentally he is 100% right. I am convinced about that," said Wenger.
Although the defence is young and performing well, Campbell was told he would get his chance to prove that he is still one of the best defenders in the country.
"But the defence is doing well. He will get the opportunity soon."
Wenger did admit that Campbell had a little spec of rust on him, and so will need to improve his fitness to cement his place in the first team again.
"There is no special meaning in that. I believe Sol will come back into the team very quickly but he still needs a little bit of work," added Wenger.
