Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the favourites to sign Ajax defender Hatem Trabelsi. 

The full back is highly rated in many parts of the world and is on many clubs wanted list. 

Arsenal were reported to have made the deal, but now Spurs have come through the rankings to be favourites to get the defenders signature. 

The Tunisian right back could be brought in as competition for Paul Stalteri and could also be played on the wings. 

"I know where I'm playing next season, but it is not up to me to reveal all of the details right now, that is up to the club," explained Hatem. 

"All that matters to me is that I walk out of the door at Ajax with my head up high. The first three years were brilliant. We did well in Europe, we won the league and we played fantastic football with Ajax," added the defender. 

"I got offers from a number of top European clubs. Ajax should have sold me. They refused and I said: 'Okay, I will see out my contract'. Now they are not happy," said Trabelsi. 

A number of other clubs have allegedly made offers for him, these include Juventus and Milan.
