Bayern Munich believe they are closing in on the signature of Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy after submitting a new bid for the Holland international.
Club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and general manager Uli Hoeness both believe they have made progress towards completing a deal. The Bayern website www.fcbayern.de reported on Sunday that a new bid had been lodged for Van Nistelrooy who fell out with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson towards the end of last season.
"He (Van Nistelrooy) wants to come to us," Hoeness told the website. "Now the ball's in Man U's court."
