Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy expects Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez  to withdraw his comments which have dragged the club's into a public row over Defoe.

Rafael claimed that Totenham were desperate to sell England international Jermain Defoe, this forced Levy to issue an angry denial and accuse Liverpool of trying to unsettle Defoe.

Rumors Tottenham would be prepared to sell Defoe to Liverpool in the summer for £15million and take Cisse in the deal have been rife for months.]

"I should expect that Mr Benitez on reflection, withdraws his wholly inappropriate, unprofessional and inaccurate comments," said Levy

"It could in fact be interpreted as a direct and blatant attempt to unsettle Jermain.
