Real Madrid will arrange a date at the end of the season in which to hold their presidential elections following the resignation of Fernando Martin.

Martin, who replaced Florentino Perez two months ago, stepped down on Wednesday night after failing to get the necessary backing of the Real Madrid board.

Martin's decision to resign as both president and board member means he is now free to challenge for the presidency when the next elections take place.
