Tottenham will rekindle their interest in Wigan defender Pascal Chimbonda and Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing after selling Michael Carrick to Manchester United for 15million.

Carrick will complete his move to Old Trafford on Monday after agreeing personal terms and completing a medical.

Disappointed Jol said: "This is a move that Michael wants to make. We have given him every reason to stay, but he has asked to be allowed to leave."
