Tottenham defender Rodrigo Defendi has joined Roma on loan, hours after the Italian club missed out on left-back Lee Young-Pyo.

The Serie A side swooped for the 20-year-old Brazilian defender after Lee rejected the chance to move to Roma for personal reasons.

Defendi's move is for an initial season-long spell although Luciano Spalletti's side have the option to make the move permanent before the end of April for a nominal fee.
